“Y” PVC balance: Athletes start in a squat stance and position arms overhead in a “Y” position with palms facing up. Move the to the bottom of the squat keeping arms overhead. Trainer places a PVC pipe on the athlete’s open palms to see if it will balance there. If this is very difficult, the athlete can start out sitting on a box and progress to an unsupported squat. Emphasize how hard the back muscles are working to keep the chest up.
